DA2 Players are Here!

The Arkansas Library for the Blind and Print Disabled is now offering patrons access to the new DA2 player. Players are available on a first‐come‐first‐served basis due to limited supply.

The DA2 player has some of the same features as the older models, such as the ability to listen to a standard cartridge, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and tactile, high‐contrast buttons. New features of the DA2 include Wi‐Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and 28 GB of internal storage.

That means DA2 users can connect to BARD, the Braille and Audio Reading Download website, to download audiobooks and magazines, store them on the player, and listen to them over Bluetooth‐enabled speakers or headphones. If you have a BARD account and access to Wi‐Fi connectivity in your residence, you can call the library at 501‐682‐1155 or email nlsbooks@ade.arkansas.gov to request a player.

Book Club

The LBPD Book Club meets monthly, and we would love to have more folks join in!

The group typically meets on the last weekday of the month at 2:00 p.m. over Zoom. You can dial in using a touchtone phone at: 1‐312‐626‐6799 with the Meeting ID: 392 900 0365, or you can call the library to get transferred into the meeting.

If you would like to join the book club and get notified of the meetings, please reach out at 501‐682‐1155 or email nlsbooks@ade.arkansas.gov.

Braille Calendars

Production of NLS's 2026 braille wall calendars was delayed due to last fall's government shutdown. Production is now complete and the distribution of calendars has begun.

NLS anticipates that all subscribers will receive calendars by the end of February. If you are subscribed and still haven't received your calendar by March, please reach out to the library.
